Hi there! My name is Halie Proshuto, and I am officially launching this blog as my senior project for my final year at Drexel University. I hope that my blog posts will provide mental health awareness and education for young adults. I’m a senior year student at Drexel University with a major in Communications. Want to know more about this blog and myself? Check out my about page for more!
Reasons for Starting this Blog:
This post is a reiteration of the blog’s about page but I thought I’d take some time to discuss the goals and focus of this blog as a whole!
I’ve decided to start this blog as platform for young adults (teenagers, and college students–like myself) to start an open conversation on mental health issues and the importance of spreading mental health awareness in their communities.
I am no expert in the field of psychology but mental health has always been a topic that I’m very passionate about. I, personally, have struggled with my own mental health in the past. I want to educate young adults about the importance of mental health awareness by sharing articles, campaigns, and organizations that advocate for the community. Furthermore, I hope to help young adults prioritize their mental health by sharing useful resources and healthy habits to dealing with bad days.
At its core, I am writing this blog to create a safe-space for young adults to get a better perspective on what it means to have a mental illness, and find out why it’s important to take care of your “brain health,” as I like to call it.
I hope I can provide some insight and valuable resources in the time to come!
A few final reminders:
- Bare with me as I establish my posting schedule. At the moment I am hoping to publish Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of each week but that schedule may be a little rough in the beginning.
- CONSTRUCTION AHEAD: I may be repairing the outlook of my blog from time to time so don’t be surprised if you can’t get to my page on occasion.
